Good Beginnings Holiday Toy Guide: Infants Edition

December 09, 2016

Please note that the following guidelines are based on typical age ranges. However, each child develops at a different rate and one can refer to an earlier age or advance to the next age as appropriate for your child. Please ask your therapist for their advice as needed.

At this age, your little one is building crucial foundational skills such as attachment and bonding, regulation, sensory processing, reflex integration and motor development!

  • Poppy Pillow with Infantino Bug Buddy or Sassy Mirror | Tummy time is fun and easy with these items!
  • Tunnels | Crawling is great for core strength, fine motor strength, tactile exploration, body in space awareness, visual perception, reflex integration and more!

  • Tethers | Brands we love: Sophie the Giraffe, BPA free teething jewelry for Mom ("Chewelry" from Chewbeads, Mama & Little, Chewable Charm)

  • Books | Start with simple black and white pattern boards and move towards books with repetition, color, flaps and textures.  We especially love soft crinkle books, Lamaze soft books with flaps, “Taggies” books and “Fuzzy, Fuzzy, Fuzzy” by Sandra Boynton.

  • Spinning suction toy for highchair | Sassy Fascination Station

  • Rings and Rattles | Sassy and Manhattan Toys have some great options

  • Stacking cups, rings, and blocks | Fisher Price Brilliant Basics Stack and Roll Cups

  • Balls | Wiggle and Giggle Ball, Oball Toy Ball, Gertie Nobby Ball
